Leadership Panel: Advancing biofuels through global collaboration

Time & Date: Thursday, 8 February 2024 @ 14:00 – 15:00

Location: Executive Sessions Theatre

As the world looks to transition from fossil fuels towards renewable energy sources, biofuels are emerging as a promising sustainable solution. However, this opportunity demands collaborative initiatives leveraging diverse agricultural, technological and policy strengths, towards building an efficient transnational feedstock and fuel supply chain. While regional partnerships can help optimise production of sustainable biomass resources, international R&D networks and skills initiatives can accelerate innovation around second-generation technologies through pooled funding mechanisms. It is crucial to address the barriers hindering widespread commercial and trade adoption of biofuels and to harmonise technical standards and certification schemes to facilitate global market integration. Attendee Insights: Biofuels specialists will explore policy frameworks and case studies from pioneering jurisdictions that offer replicable strategies and discuss the new partnerships and collective actions needed to fully unleash biofuels' long-term potential for sustainable transportation on a global scale.
