The company collaborates extensively with major Indian Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). In partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), TotalEnergies operates India’s first underground LPG storage facility in Visakhapatnam. Additionally, it is developing a network of modified bitumen derivative plants across India in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL).
TotalEnergies entered into a strategic alliance with the Adani Group in 2018. This renewed engagement with India has resulted in investments exceeding $5 billion across various joint ventures, encompassing the full spectrum of energy transition.
These ventures include Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), which is actively engaged in the development of city gas distribution networks across India; Adani Total Private Limited (ATPL), which plays a pivotal role in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) value chain and operates the Dhamra LNG terminal—the first regasification facility on India’s eastern coast; and Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s foremost developer of solar and wind energy projects, currently constructing one of the largest renewable energy installations globally in Khavda, Gujarat
Through its longstanding operations in India, TotalEnergies has been delivering liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) solutions to both domestic and industrial clients, alongside high-performance lubricants for the automotive and industrial sectors, and a diverse range of specialized fluids for over three decades. The company’s Technical Center, located in Mumbai, serves as a hub for product development, training, and field testing of lubricant and specialized fluid products across the Asian market.
TotalEnergies remains firmly committed to manufacturing in India and operates within the automotive and energy storage sectors through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Hutchinson and SAFT. Hutchinson is engaged in the production of advanced rubberized automotive components, while SAFT specializes in manufacturing battery and energy storage systems.
On the international front, TotalEnergies works in joint ventures with leading Indian exploration and production entities to bolster India’s energy security. In partnership with Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and OIL INDIA Ltd (OIL), TotalEnergies is advancing on the $20 billion Mozambique LNG project, which is poised to supply clean energy to India and other global markets for decades to come.
