ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

AN INTERNATIONAL POSTER MAKING COMPETITION ON PEDESTRIAN ROAD SAFETY THEME - WALKING TO SCHOOL SAFELY

The VIA Creative Challenge is a road safety education initiative for school students aged 10-18 years. It addresses the need to educate the most vulnerable users of road systems i.e. children and young adults. The program combines education with creativity to appeal to children. It aims to bring awareness on pedestrian road safety through a poster-making competition. School students create posters exhibiting their understanding of road safety behaviour.

Why students?

It is believed that education programs aimed at children and young people are central to having a lasting impact on attitude and behaviour. Participation is a central component of the VIA programme as students are able to express and share their views on pedestrian safety.

Why a poster?

It is an outlet for creatively communicating students’ understanding of the topic.
